A pair of truly magnificent Antique Solid Silver Wine Coolers / Champagne Buckets based closely on the early 18th century engravings by Juste Aurele Meissonnier. The engraved plate depicting these sumptuous Wine Coolers is dated 1723 and shows his strong affinity for the ornate stylistic influences of Italian Baroque Design. The bellied coolers each have a pair of impressive handles in the form form of half human half fish sea creatures with a pair of entwined scaled tails. The figures support a pair of mythical sea creatures above their heads one in each hand. The body of the Coolers feature detailed chased designs of a central armorial above a band of classical style scenes below, including figures and creatures. The sides of the coolers have floral and swag designs complimenting design as a whole.
