A magnificent example of preeminent Georgian silversmith Paul Storr's exemplary work is showcased in this elegant Silver Soup Tureen. Of generous proportions and impressive weight, the tureen has a classic oval form, raised on four finely cast scroll and shell feet. The body is beautifully finished with a crisp gadrooned border, echoed on the domed cover, creating a harmonious architectural profile. The reeded twin handles terminate in finely modelled lion face mounts, lending both gravitas and sculptural detail. The Body of the Soup Tureen features a pair of ornate finely engraved armorials. The underside of the Tureen is chased with a classic fluted design surrounding a central chased flower - testament to Paul Storr's impressive attention to detail.

The stepped domed lid mirrors these design elements and is surmounted by a striking reeded handle with acanthus and lion mask detailing, perfectly balanced and designed for practical use as well as visual impact. The polished surface is enhanced by a pair of engraved crests adding provenance and aristocratic character.

A superb centrepiece for a formal dining table, this tureen exemplifies the quality, balance and craftsmanship associated with the finest London workshops of the Georgian era. Both decorative and functional, it remains as impressive today as when it was first commissioned over two centuries ago.
