A Rare Antique Victorian Novelty Claret Jug in the shape of a Duck. The Head, Neck, Webbed Feet and Tail are naturalistically modelled in Sterling Silver with a fine attention to detail. The Silver Head and Neck have a push fit mechanism to allow the Jug to be easily filled and one filled the wine pours elegantly from within the beak. The Body of the Duck is created in clear etched glass to create the illusion of folded feathered wings. The Duck Claret Jug has inset glass eyes. This Victorian Claret Jug is a exceptional and highly collectable item.
Made in London, England in 1892 by Frederick Edmonds.
