A magnificent Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Mounted Claret Jug with a clear glass body. The Jug boasts an impressive handle created in the shape of a vine branch with leaves and vines applied. The neck of the Jug and spread foot are plain polished silver and the Wine Jug has a grape and vine designed finial. The Jug has an unusual plain glass body with an armorial etched into the glass showing the motto Quid Clarius Astris (What is brighter than the stars?)

Made in London in 1872 by John, Edward, Walter & John Barnard (Barnard & Sons)

Approx. Height - 35.4cm

This Wine Jug has a full English Hallmark on the neck and foot.

This Claret Jug is in excellent condition with no damage.
