RARE LARGE VIENNESE ENAMEL & SILVER TANKARD / FLAGON c. 1880 AUSTRIA

An impressive monumental Solid Silver & Viennese Enamel Tankard with the entire exterior of the body and lid covered in ornate Viennese Enamel Designs. The Tankard has four bands of enamelled oval cartouches with detailed classical scenes in each and surrounded by ornate patterns and detailing on a pale violet background. Each scene is in itself a detailed and delicate art work. The Tankard is further embellished with enamelled bands around the foot, body and lid. The Scroll handle incorporates an enamelled military figure while the lid features a bearded man in blue and white enamelled robes. The interior of the lid and recess of the base are also enamelled.
