A magnificent Pair of Victorian Sterling Silver Gilt Wine Coolers in the French Regence Style in a panelled baluster form. The panels are embellished with ornate matted strap work and each side of the cooler has an applied cartouche. These presentational Coolers feature a detailed engraved message in the centre of one cartouche on each while the other remains blank. The Antique Silver Coolers have removable scrolled and scalloped strap work Silver Collars and have fitted silver plated liners. Each cooler has a pair of impressive leaf and scroll handles. The engraving reads - Presented to James Lumsden Esquire of Yoker Lodge by a number of political friends in testimony of their approbation of his zealous & able exertions in the cause of reform Glasgow MDCCCXLI. Made in Glasgow, Scotland in 1841 by Robert Gray & Son. Approx. Total Weight - 4692g / 150.8oz Approx. Height - 28.3cm Approx. Width incl. Handles - 27cm
