A spectacular Antique German Solid Silver Gilt Cup or Silver Pokal. This tall Standing Cup is designed in the ‘historismus’ Renaissance Style inspired by Steeple Cups created in the 16th century in Germany. This magnificent Pokal / Cup stands on an impressive round spread foot topped with a tall shaped column leading up to a lobed body. The Cup has a futted lid also embellished with a lobed design and topped with a classical figure holding a bow and arrow. The entire Standing Cup is further embellished with beautifully ornate applied designs including Bacchus inspired faces surrounded by grapes on the vine and Hippocampus (Mer-Hoses) frolicking in a band.
