Antique Victorian Sterling Silver and Silver Gilt Ewer / Jug, 1863

A magnificent antique Victorian solid silver ewer embellished with partial gilding and a plain polished silver body. The upper gilded area features an applied silver band with classical motifs and an impressive finial showing a woman on a medieval style dolphin. On the hinged lid. The Lover gilded ares has a chased spread foot with the gilding going part of the way up the body and ending in a beaded border with a silver snake wrapped around the area.

Made in London in 1863 by Smith & Nicholson.
