A set of 12 classic Antique Victorian Solid Silver Dinner plates with a traditional shaped gadroon edge border. Each Plate has a engraved crest with the words 'Honi soit qui mal y pense' engraved in the symbol of a garter topped with a crown.
The words 'Honi soit qui mal y pense' and the garter symbol have a historic connection with the British Order of the Garter. The words translate as "May he be shamed who thinks badly of it" or "Shame be to him who thinks evil of it".

Made in London in 1863 by Alexander MacRae.

These plates are in excellent condition with no damage. Patina commensurate with age and use.
