Large German Antique Silver Tankard / Stein / Flagon, circa 1870

A magnificent over sized antique German solid silver Historismus Tankard / Stein covered in an ornate design featuring a group of Knights in Armour in the midst of a battle.The base of the tankard has a wide spread pedestal foot, also featuring chased patterning. The domed Lid has chased and has a impressively sized finial in the shape of a pomegranate. The hinged lid has a shaped thumb piece and the Tankard has an impressive scroll shaped handle.
