A magnificent antique Charles II sterling silver lidded Tankard. This Tankard has a slight tapered straight sided form with a hinged flat lid. The Tankard features a large engraved crest opposite a substantial scroll handle and a shaped thumb piece on the lid.

Made in London in 1673, Makers Mark SO (un-ascribed, see Jackson page 130)

The Tankard has full English Hallmarks on the body of the Tankard and the Lid. While the handle features the makers mark of the handle maker which is usual for the period, the handle is also marked with the Tankard Makers SO mark, indicative of an excellent provenance.

This Tankard is in excellent condition with a wonderful patina commensurate with age and use. Small dents on the handle (see images).
