A gorgeous German Silver Gilt Mounted Ostrich Egg Cup and Cover standing on a tall Silver Gilt Spread Pedestal Foot and embellished with Silver Gilt Strap Work. The fitted lid features a classical style figural finial. The Lid and Foot of the Egg feature navy blue cabochon stones inset into the silver gilt mount.
when opened the lid reveals a hinged grill with a mounted coin in the centre allowing the cup and cover to be used as a Pot Pourri or Scent Holder. The inset coin or medal bares the image of the Holy Roman Emperor Francis.

Made in Hanau, Germany.
Maker – Shows the sickle mark of Schleissner.
