A wonderful Antique Solid Silver Stag referencing the Diana & The Stag Figure created c. 1620 in Germany by Joachim Friess. This Leaping Stag is supported by a tree stump rising off a chased oval base and the Stag appears to be jumping over the tree. The oval base is chased to mirror the texture of the ground and has a number of small creatures surrounding the tree including two tortoises, a frog and some lizards. The Stag is created with an impressive attention to detail and is a wonderful model in itself, but also has a removable push fit head which reveals a pierced lid so the Model can be used as a pomander or scent diffuser.
