ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SILVER GILT CELLINI JUG / CLARET / WINE EWER LONDON 1879

A magnificent Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Cellini Style Claret Jug. This Cellini Jug is covered with a rich gold gilt and is embellished with the traditional Cellini Style Chased design inspired by the renowned Renaissance Silversmith Benvenuto Cellini. The Ewer has an impressive spout with a classical Bacchus Face Chased beneath it surrounded by ornate detailing. The scroll handle is embellished with the head and torso of a classical figure, with the head forming a sturdy thumb piece. The Jug stands on a spread pedestal foot.
