A magnificent Antique Viennese Enamel & Solid Silver Novelty Container in the shape of a liquor cask / barrel with tap. The container is of a size to be used for scent or individual portions. The Barrel rests on a pair of figures which in turn sit on a shaped Silver & Enamel Base. The Barrel is covered with intricate, richly coloured enamelling showing an assortment of classical scenes. The base is covered with a grape and vine leaf design on the top and a coloured enamel underside. The Barrel has a stopper in the shape of a figure holding a bottle and raising a glass. The base stands on four scroll feet topped with faces.
Made in Vienna, Austria in c. 1880.
